I'm still working on getting some pictures to the right computer for posting, but it has been quite a challenge! Anyway, here's some pictures from earlier this month when we went apple picking with some friends at Shelburne Orchards. We picked macs, empires, and GIANT mutsu apples. So far we've made: an amazing apple pie (with only 3 of the mutsu apples), applesauce, applebutter, and cranberry apple chutney. We've also eaten MANY apples :) Acer seems to have inherited my love for apples.

Apple Picking
Hey there...
I'm still working on getting some pictures to the right computer for posting, but it has been quite a challenge! Anyway, here's some pictures from earlier this month when we went apple picking with some friends at Shelburne Orchards. We picked macs, empires, and GIANT mutsu apples. We've also eaten MANY apples :) Acer seems to have inherited my love for apples.
Here's Acer trying out a Macintosh. He ate 3 apples that day... I may have eaten just as many. They were really amazing!
Acer and Noah were working together to use the apple picker...
Here's Acer with one of the giant mutsu apples. I didn't let him eat one of these, his stomach would have burst :)

Technical Failure
So... we finally got around to updating the blog and we're having some issues with Picasa. It's being incredibly slow and I can't seem to get any photo albums uploaded. I'll try again tomorrow! In the meantime, here's a taste of the pictures to come:
Acer likes to ride his bike in the house now. Watch out Jack!

Family
This summer really is, "The Summer of Family"! We had Grandma Shirley and Grandpa Kim here, we saw the Boreanaz crew over the 4th of July, and now we're off to see the Thompsons and O'Dells! That's all 4 families in one summer, it must be some kind of record... Anyway, we thought we'd give you some photos of our summer so far before we head off to Michigan for 2 weeks! Acer is practically running already. Still not too much to say, but he's understanding a LOT and starting to use more sign language. The garden is doing pretty well despite all the rain. We've eaten lots of green, peas, broccoli, and our first potatoes and garlic! We can't wait for the tomatoes :) Acer enjoys picking the blueberries from our new bushes. There aren't too many to pick, but he loves to pull them off and eat them! So much fruit to enjoy already this summer. We ate strawberries until we almost burst, now the blueberries, raspberries, and peaches! Soon, we'll have apples, but not too soon, we need some summer first. Well, we'll write again after our trip.

New Things!
Just thought it would be fun to share some of the new things we're doing...

1. Grandma Shirley and Grandpa Kim came to visit us after our trip to the Caribbean. We hadn't seen them since just after Acer was born. We had a really good time with them. We went to Burlington Waterfront and walked around, we went out to eat a few times, we went to the Magic Hat Brewery, and we played at the house a lot! This picture was taken the morning they left. What a nice picture of goodbyes :)
2. Another new thing is a Radio Flyer Wagon! Aunt Lynn said we could use the one that was sitting in their basement. Acer LOVES it. He gets upset everytime we walk by it and don't play with it...
3. And finally, Acer is WALKING! Well, more or less. He is doing more each day. It's so much fun to watch the process... Check out the videos below. Just click on the youtube links!
Here's Acer doing some walking on the beach in St. John... He got pretty good at walking, pretty fast. This was on May 6th, our first day there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGt37ytoJrk
Acer's getting better and better each day... This video was taken only 2 weeks after the one in St. John! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdQ-FwB7AZA

Bananas!
Anyway, life is good here. We had a fantastic sugaring season and made over 9 and a half gallons! The season went on a long time... We quit in early April, but some people went until Easter or even later! We've also been working on garden planning and seed starting, which is so exciting! What a fun time of year, so many possibilities for summer garden planning!
Acer is very happy and healthy! He's still not walking, but he's close now (really, this time it's true) He can stand alone for quite a while and take 4-5 steps. He loves it when we stand him up a couple feet from us so he can walk and crash into us! Most of the time though he gets around fast by crawling! He's starting to talk a little. He says hi and waves, bye, Dad, Jack, and gives high-fives! We look forward to more words in the coming months. He loves playing outside in the yard and garden. I wish we had a picture from this weekend... He was covered in dirt! It will be fun to play with him outside this summer. He also loves to clap! He only has 5 teeth so far, but they are on their way in (we had a rough couple of nights recently)... He's eating just about everything he can. His favorites right now are: potatoes, Cheerios, bananas, peanut butter, and venison. He is really good about eating what we eat, he likes most of the things he tries!
We have a few trips planned for this summer. Right now we are getting ready to spend time with some great friends in Tortola for Matt and Kelly's wedding! We can't wait. We're a little nervous about long airplane travel with a toddler, but we've gotten great advice about keeping Acer busy. Plus, he's a great baby! We'll post pictures when we return.
Not too much else to report. Northern Stewards is busy right now, which is fantastic. Otherwise, we are enjoying life here in Vermont. We miss you and hope to see you soon!
Daffodils are up! Haapy Spring!

Welcome to our blog!
We created this blog to keep family and friends updated on our life in Vermont!
For those of you who have experience with blogs, you should have no problem. For those of you who don't, here's some basic information about using this blog:
-In the left column you will find posts. This is where we will put news, updates, pictures, and basically let you know what's going on. The newest post will be at the top. After a while, old posts become archived so, at the bottom of this column there is a post archive where you can find any old posts...
-In the column to the right you will find pictures, links, polls for you to answer, and anything else we might find interesting to add!
Please feel free to leave comments or email us anytime! To leave comments about a posting, click on the comments at the bottom of any post, after our name and date.
